I got a chance to work with Alcon's Intra Ocular Lens Management System within Alcon Digital Light House.

In the ophthalmic surgery field, consigned intraocular lenses (IOLs) often go unused and expire due to overstocking or surgeon preference changes. This results in costly waste for Alcon and unnecessary stockpiling for hospitals.
RFID Scanning is available only on Native Applications, and this is a fastest way to scan an entire inventory within seconds, just acts just like a magic wand! This is the most popular method preferred by our customers across the Globe. Scanning radius is around 1-2 feet & gets connected through bluetooth
Barcode scanning is done by taking pictures of the Sheet in which all details of the IOL is entered after every surgery.
Serial Number is a manual process which Customers usually use while on desktops, and their Mobile / Tablet is not working, this is a rare case, and also something which we want customer to avoid as it takes time, instead use RFID which is fast, and effecient.
Start New Return: Material Managers or Nurses opens IOL Management System and clicks on "Return IOL"

Serial #: Serial # is a manual process and it can be a preferred method when scanners are not working or there is some other problem
Return IOL through Barcode scanning: User first has to connect to their phones using QR code, and they can scan the QR code of the lens to be returned
Start New Return: Material Managers or Nurses opens IOL Management System and clicks on "Return IOL, and selects the type of Scan - Bar Code, RFID (on Native - if RFID is connected), or using Barcode

1) Return IOL saved $1K - 2.5K on every consigned IOL Lens, saving Millions every Quarter for the company.
2) Return IOL feature also had it's impact on reducing carbon footprints for the company as it will now save IOLs from expiring
3) Future plans are to return the IOL to another care center which are in need of it.
